Durham Fair: Connecticut's largest agricultural fair, the next dates and how to plan the day
The Durham Fair, Connecticut's largest agricultural fair, ran from September 24 to 27, 2026; the organiser had not announced the 2027 dates when we checked. Volunteers run it on the fairgrounds at 24 Townhouse Road in Durham, in the Connecticut River Valley, with livestock, competitions, a midway and concerts, and it fills the valley's roads on the weekend.

The 2026 fair is over and the 2027 dates are not out yet. When they are, go on Thursday or Friday for the animals and the exhibits without the crowds, or on Saturday for the full fair and expect slow roads into Durham. Base in the river valley or Middletown rather than driving in and out from the coast.

The event
The Durham Fair is a four-day agricultural fair run by the Durham Agricultural Fair Association on the fairgrounds in the center of Durham. The 2026 fair ran from Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27; the organiser publishes the next fair's dates on its own site.
Livestock shows, farm and craft competitions, a midway and evening concerts fill the grounds; in 2026 general admission was $20, with children under 12 and active military free.
Planning the day
Durham is a small town on Route 17 between Middletown and the shoreline; on fair weekends the approach roads and the parking fields fill, so arrive early or come on a weekday. The organiser publishes daily hours and the concert schedule on its site.
The fair pairs well with a river-valley weekend: Essex and Chester for the river, Middletown for dinner, and the fairgrounds a short drive from both.
